Can a new type of pneumonia present with diarrhea symptoms?

Some patients develop diarrhea after novel coronavirus infection, but it is uncommon. Most patients have fever, malaise, and dry cough as the most important manifestations, and fever is often the first symptom, while a few may have nasal congestion, runny nose, and diarrhea. Therefore, diarrhea symptoms alone cannot confirm whether the body is infected with coronavirus. The diagnosis of viral infection must be combined with the epidemiological contact history of the suspected infected person, clinical symptoms and signs, imaging and laboratory findings. A positive nucleic acid test for novel coronavirus in respiratory or blood specimens and sequencing of the viral genes of respiratory or blood specimens with a high degree of homology to known novel coronaviruses are the most important basis for confirming the diagnosis.
