How to prevent neck and shoulder pain?

  Hello, dear friends!  With the development of social economy, work pressure is gradually increasing, and young and middle-aged white-collar friends are working longer and longer, especially the time spent in front of the computer is gradually increasing. Many friends are experiencing neck and shoulder pain and discomfort in the lumbar region. In the West, the syndrome of neck, shoulder and lumbar pain caused by long working hours in the office is often called office-syndrome.  As we all know, the neck and shoulder muscles play the role of support, rotation and flexion and extension, just like the coordination of yin and yang and the five elements, the three functions of the neck and shoulder are in a delicate dynamic balance. When you work in front of a computer for a long time, your neck and shoulders are in a posture for a long time and the dynamic balance is disrupted, causing pain and discomfort in your neck and shoulders. Just like when we are driving, the pain and discomfort in the neck and shoulders is the yellow light that reminds us to stop. However, because many young people have better muscle recovery ability, after a night’s rest and no obvious discomfort the next day, they are still bent on continuing to work, as the working hours become longer, muscle fatigue continues to accumulate, muscle edema and inflammation may occur, if the condition continues to develop, the cervical vertebrae may produce structural changes, such as cervical physiological curvature straightened, or even reverse curvature. If the condition progresses to this point, it will greatly increase the difficulty of treatment, increase the cost of treatment, and prolong the treatment period.  Many of you may ask, is there anything we can do to prevent and stop the further development of neck and shoulder pain and discomfort in the early stages? The answer is yes. Here I would like to share with you one of my secret recipes – “hand shaking therapy”, combining my decades of clinical experience. The key points are as follows: (1) Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart. (2) both upper limbs with shoulder joints as the axis, do a single pendulum movement in front and one behind, with hands moving in opposite directions (left hand in front when the right hand is behind, and vice versa); (3) head and neck muscles relax, with the back and forth swing of the hand, the head and neck rhythmic left and right swing, the direction of which is consistent with the swing to the rear of the upper limbs.  Please note that the above three movements are not isolated, but synchronized and coordinated in one go. Friends, when you have neck and shoulder pain and discomfort, please carry out “hand shaking therapy” it.  Experts remind: it is recommended to work 1-2 hours a day to perform a 10-15 minutes of “hand shaking therapy”.
