How to treat conjunctival lipoma

Conjunctival lipomas are mostly referred to as conjunctival dermatoid lipomas. If the patient’s discomfort such as foreign body sensation in the eye is obvious, the lesion can be removed by surgical treatment.
Conjunctival dermatoid lipoma is a congenital benign tumor, mostly unilateral, often located near the outer canthus or between the upper rectus muscle and the outer rectus muscle. The tumor is yellow, soft, lobulated and has a smooth surface. If the patient has significant discomfort such as foreign body sensation, the tumor can be surgically removed to relieve eye discomfort.
During surgery, a tiny incision can be made on the surface of the conjunctival tissue, and then the lipoma tissue can be removed completely before the incision is closed to improve the patient’s discomfort. However, patients who have undergone surgical treatment may still experience a recurrence of the conjunctival lipoma.
It is recommended that patients with conjunctival dermatolipoma should seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
