Halo-vest frame is an effective external spinal fixation device, and the main indications for its head ring undershirt type support are: 1, preoperative temporary fixation of cervical instability or dislocation caused by various etiologies, traction reset in some cases and intraoperative traction fixation; 2, the patient cannot tolerate surgery due to poor general condition; 3, local skin or vertebral septic infection and other conditions are not suitable for surgical internal fixation; 4, really due to 5.It can also be used for atlantoaxial and lower cervical spine trauma, whose fracture dislocation can be reset by manipulation or traction, and whose trauma can be repaired and healed by itself. The vast majority of patients with indications for surgery should be treated with the recognized more advanced techniques of cervical decompression, repositioning, internal fixation and bone graft fusion, after which the patients only need to wear a simple neck brace to facilitate life and functional exercise. In this paper, eight patients underwent simple posterior fusion surgery without internal fixation and were immobilized in the Halo-vest frame for an average of 128 days and a maximum of 182 days postoperatively. For this treatment method of doing cervical spine surgery and then fixing with Halo-vest frame for such a long period of time, it is no longer chosen by most hospitals. In particular, it should be emphasized that for patients who have already had internal fixation, it is even more inappropriate to immobilize the Halo-vest frame for more than 4 months, as such patients only need to wear a collar for 2-3 months.
