How to treat subcutaneous lipoma

Subcutaneous lipomas are benign tumors formed from fatty material in superficial areas under the skin, the cause of which is not known and can be treated. Most subcutaneous lipomas grow in areas of the body where there is more fat present, such as the extremities and the back of the shoulders and abdomen. Most patients have no obvious symptoms and are not in pain, but localized skin elevation can be seen and the mass is soft and pushable. Subcutaneous lipoma is a benign tumor, which is not harmful to human body, so if the tumor is small, it can be left untreated and can be observed regularly. When the tumor grows to the extent that it affects the life, it can be removed surgically, and surgical removal is the best treatment for this disease, while other methods such as topical or oral medications are generally ineffective. The cause of subcutaneous lipoma growth is not clear, but there seems to be a relationship with genetics. Lipomas can grow singly or in large numbers at the same time. Prevention of this disease can be done mostly by diet, eating less fatty and cholesterol-rich foods, which can reduce fat accumulation. Proper exercise to lose weight and reduce body fat content can also help. The most common treatment for subcutaneous lipoma is surgical excision, while other treatments usually have little effect. When the tumor is small, it can be left untreated, but should be closely monitored.
