How should I choose a vaginal wash for vaginitis patients?

Common vaginitis are: fungal vaginitis (or mycosis fungoides), mainly caused by Candida albicans; trichomoniasis, caused by Trichomonas vaginalis; and bacterial vaginitis, mainly caused by bacteria, especially anaerobic bacteria. Many patients use vaginal cleansers that have a therapeutic effect, but there are also rules for choosing cleansers for different vaginitis. Candida albicans does not like an alkaline environment, so a baking soda solution can be useful for fungal vaginitis. Trichomonas does not like an acidic environment, so douching with acetic acid solution is useful in treating trichomoniasis. There are many kinds of lotions available in the market and it is difficult to tell which one is acidic and which one is alkaline. It is recommended to use chlorhexidine acetate (also known as chlorhexidine acetate solution), which has a strong killing effect on fungi, trichomonas and anaerobic bacteria. If it is clear that you have trichomoniasis or anaerobic vaginitis, you can also use a solution that contains metronidazole, but metronidazole is not effective against fungi.
