The results of routine blood tests for novel coronavirus infection show normal or decreased total white blood cell count and decreased lymphocyte count early in the course of the disease, with some patients showing increased liver enzymes, myosin and myoglobin. Most patients have normal C-reactive protein and elevated sedimentation and normal calcitoninogen, and in severe cases, elevated D-dimer. However, routine blood test results are part of the clinical picture and need to be combined with epidemiologic history and pathogenic test results to confirm the diagnosis of novel coronavirus infection. If suspected symptoms of infection are found, prompt medical investigation is needed.
