Coughing is not necessarily TB. Coughing is a protective reflex action and can be caused by a variety of diseases, with common causes including bronchopulmonary tissue disease, pleural disease, cardiovascular disease, neuropsychiatric factors, gastroesophageal reflux, and drug factors. Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that can involve multiple organs throughout the body, with pulmonary tuberculosis being the most common. Cough and sputum for more than two weeks or blood in sputum are common suspicious symptoms of TB. Most patients with TB have systemic symptoms such as prolonged afternoon fever, night sweats, fatigue, weight loss, etc. However, the presence of cough does not necessarily indicate TB.
