Diet for Tuberculosis Patients

Patients with tuberculosis need to eat well and rest well, so it is often said that tuberculosis is a “rich disease”. Patients with tuberculosis should eat nutritious foods that are high in protein and calories and rich in vitamins A, B, C and D. Avoid alcohol and coffee, and avoid stimulating foods such as peppers. Avoid drinking alcohol and coffee, and avoid eating irritating foods such as chili peppers. In case of hemoptysis, onion, garlic and leek are also to be avoided. The main focus is on adapting the diet of patients with tuberculosis. Patients increase nutrition, eat animal protein-rich chicken, fish, lean meat, eggs, milk, soy products and fresh vegetables and fruits, high-quality animal protein foods accounted for 50% of the amount of protein eaten. A reasonable diet can not only ensure the recovery needs of TB patients, but also avoid increasing the burden on the liver due to excessive intake of nutrients. For patients with drug-related liver disease caused by side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs, foods with too much heat, such as fried and deep-fried foods and chocolate, should be avoided to prevent fatty degeneration of the liver and hinder the repair of liver cells. Patients who eat less should be given intravenous supplementation with appropriate amounts of albumin, heparan, amino acids, glucose and vitamins. Tuberculosis patients should eat less spinach, spinach is a nutrient-rich vegetable, is a healthy friend of the human body, but TB patients should not eat more spinach. The reason is that spinach is rich in oxalic acid. It was determined that each 100 grams of spinach contains 360 mg of oxalic acid. After entering the body, oxalic acid is easily combined with calcium to produce insoluble calcium oxalate, which cannot be absorbed and causes calcium deficiency in the body, thus delaying the healing of the disease. Therefore, patients with tuberculosis should eat less or no spinach. If you have to eat it, you can blanch the spinach in hot water to dissolve some of the oxalic acid in the water, and then fish it out to eat, so that the body can reduce the intake of some oxalic acid. Tuberculosis patients, should try to avoid eating animal offal, because during regular treatment, patients have to take tuberculosis drugs, even if they take liver-protective drugs, the burden on the liver is heavier. Especially patients with hepatitis B and C. Adequate protein, fiber, and easily digestible diet is important for TB patients. Because TB and is half to be treated and half to be fed.
