Can hyperthyroidism get better naturally without treatment?

There are many causes of hyperthyroidism, some of which can resolve naturally, such as iodine hyperthyroidism due to excessive iodine intake and hospital hyperthyroidism due to excessive use of thyroid hormones. Most people with hyperthyroidism caused by subacute thyroiditis or hyperthyroidism after childbirth can also subside spontaneously.
The common toxic diffuse and toxic nodular goiters and functioning thyroid tumors usually do not resolve on their own without treatment (e.g., antithyroid drugs, surgery, or radioactive iodine therapy). Although sometimes we may see a few patients who have already had hyperthyroidism, but without any treatment, the disease gradually decreases or disappears, this is only temporary and will eventually manifest itself again. If these hyperthyroidism is not treated in time, it may cause complications in many aspects and may affect fertility, and in serious cases, it may even be dangerous. Some of these comorbidities change rapidly and can lead to serious consequences. This is why hyperthyroidism must be treated, not left untreated.
