How long does it take for a pulmonary embolism to heal?

The cure time of pulmonary embolism cannot be generalized, and the short one can be recovered significantly in about 1 month, while some pulmonary embolism caused by active tumor may need lifelong treatment. The cure time of pulmonary embolism is related to the severity of the disease, and its treatment requires at least about 1 week of medication, such as oral anticoagulant drugs like warfarin, or intravenous use of low molecular heparin, for thrombolytic therapy. When the disease is basically controlled, anticoagulation therapy is needed for 3-6 months or even 1 year. If the review shows that the thrombus is completely dissolved, the patient can be considered cured. However, if the patient has long-standing clot-prone factors, including coagulation factor deficiency, active tumor pulmonary embolism, or is bedridden for a long time due to the disease, long-term or lifelong anticoagulation therapy may be required. Pulmonary embolism is more aggressive and can lead to death by shock in severe cases, and generally requires active hospitalization for thrombolysis and anticoagulation.
