What are the special types of otitis media?

  Special types of otitis media are often due to specific bacterial infections or special conditions that cause otitis media, often as a local manifestation of systemic disease.  These include: 1. Tuberculous otitis media: caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, often accompanied by tuberculosis.  2. AIDS otitis media: caused by HIV with prolonged pus flow.  3.Syphilitic otitis media: caused by syphilitic spirochetes.  4.Fungal otitis media: caused by fungal infection, often caused by diabetes mellitus and extensive application of hormone therapy.  5. Necrotizing otitis media, etc.
