How to determine genital herpes

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the herpes simplex virus, mainly caused by herpes simplex virus type 2 and rarely by herpes simplex virus type 1, and is one of the common STDs. The incubation period of primary genital herpes is around 3-14 days and can be diagnosed by symptoms and laboratory tests. 1. Symptoms: The main manifestation is that after high-risk sex, there are clusters or scattered small blisters around the external genitalia or anus, the blistering fluid is initially clear, part of it gradually becomes purulent, 2-4 days later it breaks down to form a vesicle or ulcer with pain, after which it crusts and heals, usually leaving no trace after healing, the course of the disease is about 2-4 weeks. Patients occasionally have fever, headache, malaise and other systemic symptoms during the initial onset. 2, laboratory tests: virus culture, nucleic acid testing, antibody testing or cytology can help confirm the diagnosis. Genital herpes can be treated with oral antiviral drugs, commonly used drugs such as acyclovir, valacyclovir, and famciclovir, which can be taken for several days and the lesions can heal more quickly. However, it can only achieve temporary control and cannot play a radical effect, and may relapse again in a few months or years after treatment. Therefore, patients usually need to pay attention to rest, avoid staying up late and increase resistance, which can avoid the chance of recurrence. In case of frequent attacks, more than 6 times a year, treatment by long-term suppressive therapy is required.
