How long do the side effects of leuprolide last?

The duration of side effects after leuprolide use may vary depending on the sensitivity of the patient to the drug. Leuprolide is commonly used in clinical practice for the treatment of endometriosis to keep women in a state of amenorrhea and to avoid aggravation and recurrence of endometriosis. Its side effects mainly include fever, vaginal dryness, and loss of libido. Some patients may experience urinary disorders and blood in urine, while others may experience irregular menstruation, scanty menstruation, and amenorrhea after the use of the drug. The duration of side effects varies depending on the patient’s metabolism and sensitivity to the drug, but generally the side effects disappear within 3-6 months after discontinuation of the drug. During the use of leuprolide, patients should closely monitor their estrogen levels, and in case of serious side effects, appropriate side effect corrective medications can be used to relieve the discomfort.
