Ovarian cysts are cystic swellings of the ovary in the Chinese character sense. The first word is “swelling” and the second word is “cystic” to modify the characteristics of the swelling. So what is the significance of this? First of all, we should understand that the ovary is the endocrine organ of women. Simply put, it has two functions: ovulation function and secretion of female hormones. Women ovulate one egg every month, which we can’t see, but the house it lives in we can see. Just like we can only see the Dalian TV tower in the distance, but we cannot see the people inside. The house where the egg resides is what we call the follicle, which changes daily with the cycle, from a few millimeters for small ones to nearly 3 centimeters for large mature ones. The changes of the follicle are observable under ultrasound. In the middle of menstruation, the follicle will rupture as the hormone level changes and the egg will be expelled and will be picked up by the umbilical end of the fallopian tube to the fallopian tube, ready to make love with the sperm haha. If this follicle does not rupture, the egg will not be expelled on time, which means the door of the house will not open and the person will not come out. The follicle will increase in size to a certain extent and the ultrasound will indicate that the ovary is cystically enlarged at this time. After ovulation, this follicle will change accordingly and there will be bleeding inside, which we call hematopoiesis. This is followed by luteinization, which is called the corpus luteum. During this period, the local imaging of this ovary will have what is called cystic echogenicity, and the ultrasound will indicate the so-called cystic enlargement. After reading the above, you will know that the ovaries are so restless. Unlike our other organs, such as the eyes and nose, which don’t change much every day or even for decades, unless they get older. With such changes, sometimes our ovaries will have non-neoplastic cystic swellings, which will usually disappear after a follow-up consultation. Or if you choose to take oral contraceptives, it will also disappear. Because it is not a tumor, it is just a changing follicle. However, to identify it, a professional doctor needs to make a judgment. It has a certain range, usually not more than 5 cm. On the contrary, tumors can occur in all organs, such as lung, liver, and so on. Of course, ovaries are not immune. It has the same chance. Ovarian tumors can be cystic, solid or mixed. When a tumor occurs, even if it is cystic in nature, it cannot be solved by medication. The current method of dealing with tumors is still mainly surgery, while the malignant ones will be assisted by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. If we listen to the rumors and secret recipes, we will delay the malignant change of benign tumor, which is sad.
