Can epilepsy be passed on to offspring?

Some people are often afraid to marry someone with epilepsy or who has had epilepsy because they fear that epilepsy will be inherited. Theoretically, genetic factors have some influence on seizures, but this influence is, after all, very small. The chances of having a child with epilepsy in the next generation of epileptic patients are also clinically low, so the transmission factor plays a role to a certain extent, but there are many acquired environmental, social and other factors that play a role together. Therefore, it is possible that children born to epileptic patients who marry will not be induced to have seizures in the future, as long as they avoid adverse environmental factors. If necessary, go to a regular hospital and have a genetic metabolic screening to further clarify the cause of the disease, or ask a genetic specialist for guidance and assistance.
