A young patient’s experience of treatment of wrist fracture, surgery with postoperative rehabilitation of rehabilitation?

  A. The importance of surgical repositioning and exercise rehabilitation Thank you letter written to Dr. Chen Hua: As a patient to talk about the impact of surgery and rehabilitation exercises on my function from Shanxi in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 301 Hospital patients My disease is a distal radius fracture, September in 301 Hospital, Chen Hua, director of surgery, it has been 2 months, the current recovery is very good, now the rehabilitation experience to share with you for I hope you will find this article helpful and please correct any inaccuracies. Because of the distal radius fracture, the injured part was reset after the injury, but after the CT and MRI films came out, because the bone and joint reset was not very good, after asking Director Chen to look at it, it was recommended to have a surgical reset, otherwise it would definitely affect the function and scope. At first, I didn’t quite understand, I thought I had already reset the bone, would it still affect the function if part of the bone was almost reset? Then there was a fear of surgery. Later, I realized that human joints are very precise, just like the mechanical joints of an excavator, if there is a little bit of misalignment in the joints, it will definitely affect the angle and range of motion. This led to the determination to undergo surgical repositioning. Because the surgical repositioning laid a good foundation, the rehabilitation exercises further strengthened it. In addition, surgical repositioning is the foundation and rehabilitation is the further consolidation. In terms of rehabilitation, patients with fractures need both psychological rehabilitation and functional rehabilitation, and psychological rehabilitation is as important as functional rehabilitation. Because of the fracture injury, the patient’s psychology suffers a big injury, firstly, when the joint is rehabilitated, he is often afraid that the exercise is not appropriate, causing re-injury to the fracture site; secondly, he is afraid of pain, and it really hurts during the rehabilitation exercise; thirdly, there is a psychological barrier to many movements, and he always feels as if he is different from before. Because psychological factors will have an impact on exercise rehabilitation. My experience is: to be confident, try to overcome the psychological factors to exercise recovery, find ways to understand the causes of discomfort and solutions. The body’s self-healing ability is very strong, but it has its own reasonable law, the fracture joint is like a damaged mechanical parts, the doctor after the surgery reset, if you do not move exercise, then it can only rust dead, the reason is that the fracture part of the joint will gradually heal and grow after surgery, if not moving, the tissue growth will fill the joint itself should have space, then the joint will be completely stiff, just like the hinge on the door, in which clip If a foreign body is stuck in it, the angle of closure will be affected. The difference between domestic and foreign countries is that the most common post-operative joint stiffness in China is caused by inactivity, which is related to domestic perceptions. From another point of view, a normal wrist joint has to move several thousand times a day, so the wrist that needs to be rehabilitated must also need to move, just like a normal hand that does not move for a day. Therefore, we need rehabilitation exercises, which is the only way to fight for your body to return to its normal state as much as possible after the surgery reset, and this can only be done by yourself. Just like a wire, what the doctor can do is to connect the copper core in the wire and reset it, the outer skin itself needs to be moved to maintain the angle and range of activities. Second, some experience of rehabilitation exercise First, under the guidance of the doctor, because the fracture site has a process of growth, so what time to what degree of activity, how to move exercise, must comply with medical advice. After my wrist injury, Director Chen asked me to start moving on the second day after the surgery, and to strive for maximum range of motion and keep it up, and then slowly strive for continuous progress, which I didn’t understand at first, but later I realized that the tissue in the area is growing after the joint part is repaired, so you have to move as early as possible, so the joint part tissue will adapt to your range of motion and grow, otherwise it will be difficult to move when it grows. Your own experience is that if you follow the requirements, you will feel better and better. Although it hurts, the joint will be comfortable after each painful exercise because the blood circulation is better through the exercise, so the joint will be comfortable, and the exercise should be done in a gradual manner. Secondly, you should strictly follow the basic method of exercise required by the doctor and then combine it with your own situation to exercise. When your left wrist is injured, your right wrist is your best reference. The range of motion and function of your right wrist is the goal to be achieved by your left wrist exercise, and all the movements of your right hand are the content of your left hand exercise. In addition to the basic movements required by the doctor, you can make your left hand and right hand do the movements at the same time, so that your left hand can try to keep up with your right hand. Because of the back injury, all my wrist exercises are done with the body in parallel, so many movements have to be found to do, as long as they can help restore the wrist range. Third, it is both active and passive movements. Wrist injury may be active wrist joint rotation can only 120 degrees (left hand rotation), to turn to 180 degrees can only rely on passive action (right hand to break), these two actions alternate, will continue to improve their left hand function. As for passive movements, you can help yourself or your family (some movements are really impossible to do by yourself), but your family should understand the goal of the activity and remember to master the strength, and then use other methods to assist. These are some of my personal experiences, I hope they will be helpful to you, and I wish you all a speedy recovery.
