Clinical observation on the treatment of chronic colitis with compound Scutellaria Baicalensis granules

  Compound scutellaria granules have been widely used in our anorectal department for more than ten years to prevent and treat postoperative complications of hemorrhoid fistula. In the process of application, it was found that some patients with chronic colitis combined with abdominal pain and diarrhea disappeared after taking this medicine, and the number of stools decreased.  1 Data and methods 1.1 General data 200 cases were observed as inpatients of our anorectal department, including 132 male and 68 female cases, aged 20-60 years old, with an average of 39.7 years old.  Diagnostic criteria: refer to “Clinical Application of Fiber Colonoscopy” and “Chinese Hemorrhoidology”. Inclusion criteria: Those who must meet the above western medical diagnosis and Chinese medicine classification criteria, and completely voluntarily accept and cooperate with the examination and drug treatment were included as subjects.  Exclusion Criteria: Age below l8 years old and above 65 years old; pregnant and lactating women; allergic to drugs; ulcerative colitis and fecal routine examination with white blood cells, pus cells and positive bacterial culture; Crohn’s disease, collagenous colitis, lymphocytic colitis, irritable bowel syndrome; serious diseases of heart, cerebrovascular, liver, kidney, lung and hematopoietic system; psychiatric patients. Patients with other serious co-morbidities of the digestive tract; patients with rectal prolapse; patients with evidence of spleen and stomach deficiency cold. Anyone who did not meet the inclusion criteria, did not take the medication as prescribed, could not undergo regular physical and chemical examinations, could not judge the efficacy or had incomplete information, etc., which affected the judgment of efficacy or safety. The cases were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, with 100 cases in each group. The gender, age, type and duration of disease were comparable between the two groups (P>0.05).  1.2 Treatment method: The treatment group was given compound scutellaria granules (prepared by the pharmacy department of the hospital) orally, 8g, 3 times/d, 30d as a course of treatment. Control group: Xianglian tablets (Xiangxi Pharmaceutical Factory, Xiangwei Pharmacopoeia (1982) 19-001), 4 tablets, orally, 3 times/d, 30d for a course of treatment, 1 course of treatment.  1.3 Efficacy observation (1) Main observation index ① Symptoms: abdominal pain, diarrhea. ②Tongue quality, tongue coating and pulse. ③Fiber colonoscopy for local condition of mucosa: smoothness, glossiness, congestion, swelling.
