Currently, it is generally considered to be related to insufficient tear production and excessive tear evaporation. Therefore, the first thing to consider is to treat the cause, such as avoiding prolonged computer use, not staying in air-conditioned rooms for a long time, avoiding stimulation by smoke and dust, not wearing contact lenses, etc. If the dryness is caused by systemic dryness syndrome, joint treatment by rheumatology is needed; if it is caused by dysfunction of the lid gland, massage and unblocking of the lid gland duct is needed. Localized eye treatment with artificial tear drops is generally considered. Artificial tears are the main drugs used to treat dry eyes, clinically there are hyaluronic acid, sodium glassate, polyvinyl alcohol and so on. If used for a long time, try to choose artificial tears without preservatives. For severe dry eye, silicone eye shields, wet room lenses, and surgical treatments such as tear plugs, permanent tear dots closure, and autologous free submandibular gland transplantation can be considered.
