How is non-specific costochondritis treated?

Non-specific costochondritis is a self-limiting condition, meaning that in most cases it will heal on its own without treatment. Management is generally symptomatic, such as adequate rest, limiting exercise as much as possible, using analgesic medication and local closure for significant pain. Physical methods such as physiotherapy and hot packs can also be used to relieve the condition. In addition, over-the-counter pain relief medications such as pain relief creams containing diclofenac diethylamide and acetaminophen can be used.
