How long does it take to heal from a broken hamstring?

The healing time for a hamstring rupture varies depending on the site of the rupture. Achilles tendon ruptures require the longest healing time, about 2-3 months, and slightly longer recovery time than toe injuries. The current treatment can be done by exposing the tendon rupture site, suturing the broken segment with tendon sutures, and fixing it with a cast or brace. After 2-3 weeks, the plantarflexion angle is gradually reduced, and after 6-8 weeks, the ankle joint can be gradually restored to a 90° dorsiflexion position, and the patient can perform adaptive exercises, and can complete walking and daily life in about 2-3 months. However, in order to stabilize the treatment effect, patients are advised to avoid too strenuous exercise for six months afterwards to prevent re-injury. In conclusion, patients with a broken hamstring need to consult an orthopedic surgeon in a timely manner, take the appropriate treatment and strictly follow medical advice. At the same time, attention should be paid to rest and moderate exercise in order to promote a speedy recovery.
