Bilateral ovarian polycystic-like changes are imaging changes described by ultrasound and may be associated with ovarian dysfunction. They are benign lesions that usually disappear on their own without treatment if they are small; however, if polycystic ovary syndrome is present, it is more difficult to cure, but the symptoms can be controlled with treatment. Bilateral polycystic ovarian changes are defined as the presence of multiple follicles in both ovaries that can be seen on ultrasound. If the number of follicles visible on ultrasound is greater than 12 and the ovaries are enlarged, the diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome can usually be made. If a woman has fewer polycystic-like changes in both ovaries, it is possible that they are temporary and can go away on their own. However, if the diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome is made and the patient is mostly accompanied by menstrual disorders, it is usually not completely cured but the clinical symptoms can be controlled. Therefore, patients should not worry too much. Women with bilateral polycystic ovarian changes should eat a light diet, with more grains and cereals, less spicy and stimulating foods, and avoid sweet foods as much as possible. If accompanied by postmenstrual pushing, low menstrual flow, obesity, more hair, acne, etc., pay attention to adjusting lifestyle, actively controlling weight and taking medication regularly as prescribed by the doctor.
