As a surgeon, I encounter this problem on a regular basis in the clinic. There are several treatment options for a disease, and from a physician’s point of view, I try to explain to the patient the pros and cons of each of these treatment options so that the patient and his or her family can make a choice. So from the patient’s point of view, how to choose? Patients should be clear on several points: 1. the degree of impact of the disease on their work life, as this determines the level of your expectations for the outcome of the treatment. 2. The limit of financial contribution that you and your family, and in some cases even your family, can afford to pay for the treatment of the disease. 3, the treatment of the disease is not solved by surgery alone, but a system of treatment, and very often different surgical methods will make different some restrictions on your future life and work. 4, the most advanced treatment method or the so-called best treatment method, is not necessarily the most suitable for you. After clarifying the above points, you then make your choice. Personally, I believe that there is no best surgical method for patients, only the most suitable one. In addition, when you meet a good doctor, especially a virtuous one, you should trust him absolutely so that he will set the most suitable treatment for you for your specific situation without any other concerns. The lack of trust between doctors and patients is a sadness for both sides and for society.
