What are the precautions after lower limb fracture surgery

After lower extremity fracture surgery, attention should be paid to the care of the incision, which needs to be changed every other day to prevent infection of the incision. The lower extremities also require functional exercises, such as active and passive functional exercises, active exercises for muscle strength and muscle function of both lower extremities to prevent muscle atrophy and deep vein thrombosis. Passive movement of the knee or ankle joint is also needed to prevent joint adhesions and stiffness. In the early postoperative period, if the swelling of the limb is obvious, the affected limb should be elevated and treated with ice or other means. If swelling is significant, the lower extremity needs to be treated with a foot pump to prevent deep vein thrombosis. Early movement of the lower limb fracture should be avoided to avoid fracture or bending of the plate or other internal fixation.
