The life expectancy of diabetic patients cannot be generalized. Generally, if you ensure a good state of mind, pay attention to diet, exercise properly, and actively cooperate with the treatment to control the blood sugar at the ideal level, it will not cause greater harm to life and can be comparable to the life expectancy of normal people.
Most 18-year-old diabetic patients are type 1 diabetes, which is mainly caused by genetic factors, autoimmune factors, viral infections, chemical toxins or dietary factors that together lead to β-cell damage and impaired insulin secretion, thus suffering from diabetes. It mainly relies on insulin treatment, and pays attention to low-sugar diet and moderate exercise.
There may also be type 2 diabetes, by genetic and environmental factors, improved living standards, negligence of exercise, usually seen in obese patients. Attention should be paid to low-sugar, low-fat diet, exercise, hypoglycemic drug therapy and so on.
18-year-old diabetic patients should go to the regular hospital in a timely manner, under the guidance of the doctor’s treatment.
