The most common location of breast cancer recurrence and treatment

Recurrence of breast cancer mainly includes three types: local recurrence, regional recurrence and distant metastasis. Local recurrence refers to the recurrence of the tumor in the primary site, such as within the area of surgical resection or in the chest wall. 2.Regional recurrence refers to the recurrence of lymph nodes in the drainage area of the primary breast cancer, including the recurrence or metastasis of lymph nodes in the ipsilateral axilla and supraclavicular area. 3.Distant metastasis refers to the involvement of other parts of the body, such as bone, liver, lung or brain. How to treat breast cancer after recurrence: A biopsy should be performed on the recurrent lesion when breast cancer recurs to clarify the hormone receptor expression and HER2 status of the tumor at the metastatic site, so as to provide a therapeutic basis for subsequent adjuvant treatment. For breast cancer with only local recurrence, if the first surgery is breast-conserving or axillary-conserving treatment, patients should have another surgery to perform total mastectomy or axillary lymph node dissection and decide whether to adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy after surgery according to the pathology. For regional recurrence or local recurrence only, different treatment modalities are chosen according to the site of recurrence. If the recurrence is in the axilla, if surgical excision is possible, surgical treatment is required, followed by radiotherapy if necessary. If it is in the supraclavicular or internal breast lymph node area, adjuvant radiotherapy is available. For hormone receptor positive, endocrine therapy drugs can be replaced. After breast cancer surgery, regular review and weight control are needed. Diet also needs to be careful not to consume foods with high hormone content such as royal jelly and placenta to reduce the risk of recurrence. Meanwhile, if you have any uncomfortable symptoms after surgery, you need to visit the doctor in time for early distant metastasis to get early and aggressive treatment.
