What are the discomforts associated with reflux esophagitis disease?

Reflux esophagitis is a common disease in gastroenterology or thoracic surgery. Typical symptoms include reflux or heartburn, which can be characterized by a burning sensation of gastric contents refluxing into the pharynx or mouth or radiating to the neck behind the sternum. However, there can be no reflux symptoms, but only indigestion such as epigastric pain and discomfort, or even coughing and asthma as a result of refluxed gastric contents entering the trachea. Therefore, reflux esophagitis with atypical symptoms requires perfect upper gastrointestinal imaging, gastroscopy and 24-hour lower esophageal pH test and lower esophageal pressure measurement, and it may be clinically necessary to repeatedly go through the analysis of the test results to confirm the diagnosis.
