Does the amniotic fluid feel sticky?

Amniotic fluid does not have a sticky consistency. Amniotic fluid is a clear liquid, colorless and odorless, and is not viscous. If a pregnant woman feels a discharge that is sticky, it is not amniotic fluid and should be leucorrhea. When the amniotic fluid is sticky and yellow in color, it indicates the occurrence of overdue pregnancy, or it may be placental insufficiency, etc. If the amniotic fluid is cloudy, purulent or smelly, it indicates infection in the uterine cavity and needs to be examined and treated immediately to avoid threats to both the fetus and the mother’s health. If the amniotic fluid is golden yellow, it indicates an increase in amniotic fluid bilirubin due to hemolysis of the mother and child. The presence of yellowish green or dark green amniotic fluid indicates fetal distress. The presence of sticky amniotic fluid is also associated with the presence of foreign bodies in the amniotic fluid, i.e. an abnormal increase in fetal fat and feces. In case of sticky amniotic fluid, it is recommended to go to the hospital for further examination. Fetal heart monitoring and ultrasound can be performed to further evaluate the fetal condition. If symptoms of fetal hypoxia appear, terminate the pregnancy immediately if necessary.
