Historic breakthrough in Ar-He knife tumor treatment

The argon helium knife is not a true scalpel, it is a high-tech treatment system that uses full monitoring to accurately locate minimally invasive percutaneous punctures to treat tumors. The Ar-He knife has 4 or 8 thermally insulated hollow supercooled knives with internal circulation piping systems that output either high pressure ambient argon gas (cold medium) or high pressure ambient helium gas (hot medium). Argon can expand sharply at the tip of the knife and freeze the lesion tissue to minus 140-190℃ within 60 seconds. After 15 minutes of freezing, the argon gas is stopped and helium gas is input, which expands sharply at the tip of the knife and rapidly heats the lesion tissue in the ultra-low temperature state, causing the tumor tissue to rapidly warm up from more than 100 degrees below zero to 30-50 degrees above zero, thus implementing rapid thermal therapy. This kind of cold and heat reversal therapy can directly cause dehydration and rupture of cancer cells, or destroy small blood vessels of tumor to cause lack of oxygen, resulting in death of cancer cells and complete destruction of diseased tissues. The dead tumor tissues left in situ after cryoablation can be used as antigens to promote anti-tumor immune response of the body. 1.Technical characteristics of argon helium knife 1.Treatment without incision: argon helium knife treatment without incision, cryotherapy without bleeding or little bleeding (freezing can stop bleeding and pain), percutaneous puncture treatment, patient pain is small. 2.Precise treatment, safe and reliable: percutaneous cryotherapy under CT guidance of argon helium knife can precisely insert the cryopuncture needle into the center of the tumor and carry out cryotherapy, the accuracy rate can reach 100%. The speed, time and temperature of cooling and heating, the size and shape of the destroyed area can be precisely controlled and set by computer. 3.Pure physical therapy, no toxic side effects: Ar-He knife uses room temperature gas, freezing or heating is only limited to the tip of the puncture needle, which will not harm the surrounding normal tissues and the puncture path, it is a pure physical therapy method, without the side effects caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. 4.Short operation time, small trauma, fast patient recovery: the patient requirements are relatively low, the general patient can tolerate, and argon helium knife treatment after the complications are less, the operation time is generally only 1-1.5 hours, and because of freezing to stop bleeding, pain, so the treatment of patient pain is very small, easy to accept. 5, short hospitalization time, low overall treatment cost: argon helium knife treatment cost is about 15,000 yuan, generally no more than 3 lesions or lesions within 8cm, a treatment can be finished, observation 3-5 days can be discharged, so the non-therapeutic expenses are less. 6.Improve immunity and expand therapeutic effect: Ar-He knife freezing treatment can improve tumor immunity obviously, the tumor cells are completely broken after freezing, and the tumor antigens within the cells are released, which is equivalent to producing tumor vaccine in the body, thus improving the therapeutic effect, and making the potential lesions and distant metastases get effective control. Ar-He knife is suitable for 1.lung cancer ①peripheral lung cancer that does not want to be operated or cannot tolerate surgical resection; ②primary lung cancer that cannot be removed by surgical exploration; ③central lung cancer that involves lobar bronchus or partly near the hilar region; ④lung cancer that cannot be surgically removed by combination of diabetes, coronary heart disease, old heart attack and other comorbidities; ⑤limited metastatic lung cancer (no more than 3 metastases). 2.Hepatocellular carcinoma ① primary massive hepatocellular carcinoma with a diameter of 10 cm or tumor occupying less than 50% of the liver volume; ② primary hepatocellular carcinoma with less than 3 foci and less than 5 metastases; ③ liver function evaluation of Child A or B grade; ④ tumors near the liver gate or tumors next to large blood vessels and inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma cases. 3.Kidney cancer ①Bilateral or multiple small kidney tumors; ②Single tumor within the renal parenchyma less than 5 cm; ③Central lung cancer involving lobar bronchi or partly near the hilar region; ④Patients with poor underlying renal function that cannot be operated and tumor infiltration range less than 1/3. 4.Prostate cancer ①Patients with prostate cancer of one or two pages; ②Patients who are too old to tolerate surgery or other treatments; ③Patients who have undergone debulking or androgen reduction therapy ③Patients who have undergone debulking or androgen reduction therapy or have recurrence or residual tumor after surgery; ④Patients who have failed radiotherapy or chemotherapy and have no other treatment options; ⑤Patients who have bone metastases but are in good general condition can still choose local Ar-He knife treatment. 5.Other solid tumors such as brain tumor, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, thyroid cancer, thymoma, bone tumor, soft tissue tumor, head and neck tumor, skin tumor, metastatic gastrointestinal tumor, etc.; benign lesions such as prostate hyperplasia, hemangioma, uterine fibroid, cyst, etc.
