Wind evil is one of the causes of “cervical spondylosis

Patients with “whiplash” are very common in clinical practice. Be sure to ask the occupation, many “whiplash” patients are drivers, the reason is actually related to the wind they drive with the side windows open. The reason for putting the word “cervical spondylosis” in quotation marks is that clinically, too many patients are diagnosed with cervical spondylosis based on radiographs or symptoms, but in the opinion of Chinese medicine practitioners, there are many cases that are not really caused by the “cervical spine”. The stiffness and pain of the neck muscles and the restriction of movement are, according to Chinese medicine, probably the result of the wind evil, as stated in the Nei Jing: “All violence and straightness belong to the wind. The wind evil enters the body and causes the normal flow of Qi and blood in the neck and shoulder muscles to be restricted, resulting in symptoms. How do you determine this? If the arteries under the hands have the characteristics of strings or floating, combined with the symptoms, we should consider the wind evil factor; secondly, the medical history, the patient usually does not actively remember to have a history of exogenous disease, we have to ask whether there is a history of exogenous disease at the beginning of the disease (in the “Theory of Typhoid Fever”, the patient with a cold is called “wind family (In the “Treatise on Typhoid”, a patient with a cold is called a “wind family”); secondly, occupation, as mentioned at the beginning of the article, it is common for drivers to suffer from “cervical spondylosis”; finally, the patient has other symptoms that support the “wind”, such as abnormal regulation of emotions, significant fluctuations in blood pressure And so on. How to treat? Theoretical basis: Nei Jing, “The east wind is born in spring, the disease is in the liver, and Yu is in the neck”; Article 24 of the Treatise on Typhoid Fever, “If a person who is sick with the sun, first takes Gui Zhi Tang, but is troubled and does not relieve himself, first prick the Feng Chi and Feng Fu, but then he is cured with Gui Zhi Tang.” From the above, it can be seen that the key point for the wind to enter and exit the body is the neck (front and back of the neck), and the pores around the body can dispel the wind, but if there is a problem, choose the key points to solve it: Fengchi and Fengfu; the method of relieving the surface and dispelling the wind is the main method to “save the evil wind”.
