Change in bowel habit After colon cancer, patients will show symptoms of change in bowel habit, and right hemicolectomy is mostly manifested as thin stool, pus and blood, and increase in the number of bowel movements. When the disease develops to advanced stage, the enlargement of cancer tumor will affect the passage of stool, and patients may have alternating symptoms of diarrhea and constipation. Left colon cancer is mostly manifested as difficulty in defecation, and it gradually worsens with the development of the disease. Blood in stool is also a symptom of colon cancer. In early stage, the amount of bleeding is small and difficult to be detected by naked eyes, so it is easy to be ignored by patients. When colon cancer develops to advanced stage, patients may have obvious symptoms of blood in stool, the blood color is mostly bright red or dark red, and it is often separated from blood and stool, which is easily confused with hemorrhoids and needs special vigilance. 3.Symptoms of intestinal obstruction When colon cancer develops to advanced stage, due to the filling of the intestinal cavity by the mass, strangulation of the intestinal tube itself or adhesion and compression outside the intestinal cavity, patients may also show symptoms of intestinal obstruction, which are manifested as abdominal pain, abdominal distension, constipation, vomiting, hyperactive intestinal peristalsis and obstructed exhaustion. 4.Abdominal masses Due to the infiltration and bonding of cancer with omentum and surrounding tissues, patients with advanced colon cancer may also have abdominal masses, which are hard and irregular in nature and have a certain degree of activity with intestinal canal at the beginning, but with the development of the disease, when the cancer infiltrates more, the masses may be fixed. 5.Systemic symptoms As colon cancer is a consumptive disease, nutrition in the body is consumed a lot, coupled with long-term chronic blood loss, patients with advanced colon cancer may show obvious systemic symptoms, which are manifested as different degrees of malnutrition, emaciation, anemia and weakness, etc. In the final stage, it may also cause cachexia, which requires special vigilance. 6.Metastasis symptoms When colon cancer develops to advanced stage, the disease has already appeared local and distant metastasis, so patients can show various metastasis symptoms. Lymph nodes, liver, lung, brain, bone and other tissues and organs are the common metastatic organs of colon cancer. Patients may show lymph node enlargement, pain in liver area, cough, sputum and blood, headache, vision loss, bone pain, pathological fracture and other corresponding metastatic symptoms.
