Contents of single transumbilical laparoscopic technique

Based on years of laparoscopic surgery and mini-laparoscopic surgery, we have successfully introduced and carried out single transumbilical laparoscopic surgery for urological diseases, and observed that the operation time is approximately the same or slightly longer than that of traditional laparoscopic surgery, but because the umbilicus is the only natural scar in human beings, the single transumbilical laparoscopic incision is more concealed and more beautiful after the operation, and there is no obvious surgical scar. The pain is significantly reduced after the surgery and the patient can move freely on the floor the day after the surgery. The surgical result is the same as that of traditional surgery. At present, we have successfully performed 4 cases of single transumbilical laparoscopic treatment of varicocele, and all patients have successfully recovered from the surgery. After searching, this technology has reached the advanced level in China. In recent years, laparoscopic surgery has been greatly developed due to the rise of the laparoscopic surgery boom, and most of the intra-abdominal organ surgeries can be performed by laparoscopic surgery. With the improvement of surgical skills, laparoscopic surgery has evolved to become more minimally invasive and aesthetically pleasing. In contrast to traditional laparoscopic surgery, where multiple operating orifices are punched in multiple parts of the abdomen, single transumbilical laparoscopy uses mini-laparoscopic surgical instruments to punch only 2 to 3 orifices in the umbilicus, with the benefit of smaller incisions, less visible scars, and less postoperative pain, but requiring higher surgical proficiency and skill. The main indications for single transumbilical laparoscopic surgery are procedures without specimens or with small specimens. The main indications for urology are: 1) exploratory abdominal surgery; 2) high spermatic vein ligation; 3) ureteral stone or ureteral stricture surgery; 4) renal cyst depanalization; 5) adrenal gland surgery, etc. Mini-laparoscopic techniques can also be used to treat some diseases in the fields of pediatric surgery, gynecology, and general surgery. As summarized by postoperative follow-up, the benefits of single transumbilical laparoscopy are significantly better than those of conventional laparoscopic surgery when the indications are selected appropriately.
