There is no optimal cure for delirium because of individual differences in the condition. The treatment of delirium needs to clarify the cause of the disease and actively treat the primary disease, most commonly with medication. 1. Delirium caused by drugs: some special antidotes can be used. Flumazenil and naloxone can treat delirium caused by valium and opioids respectively. For delirium caused by anticholinergic drugs, toxaphene can be used intravenously. For mild agitated symptoms due to withdrawal reactions to alcohol or barbiturates, drugs such as diazepam or midazolam are commonly used. 2. If the patient develops severe perceptual disturbances or delusions and verbal reassurance is ineffective or the behavior may pose a danger to self or others, antipsychotic treatment, such as haloperidol, quetiapine, etc., may be used, starting at a low dose and titrating slowly until satisfactory therapeutic effects are obtained, and thereafter administering the drug as needed. The presence of delirium requires active medical attention to identify the specific cause. However, the use of specific drugs, need to be under the guidance of a professional doctor, do not blindly use their own drugs to avoid danger.
