Eye laser i.e. laser surgery, mainly full femtosecond surgery or semi-femtosecond surgery, superficial surgery, there is almost no pain as local anesthetic eye medication will be applied locally during surgery. After the anesthetic drug has reduced its effect, pain may occur, but it is also within the tolerable range.1. Full femtosecond surgery or semi-femtosecond surgery: Since the whole procedure is performed with a femtosecond laser and the trauma is small, usually only about 2mm, local anesthetic eye medication is used before the full femtosecond surgery, thus the recovery is faster and almost painless. Semi-femtosecond surgery is a combined surgery using femtosecond laser and excimer laser, which requires the creation of a corneal flap. There may be slight pain during the post-operative recovery process, but the pain time is usually short. 2. Superficial surgery: The surgery requires the removal of the corneal epithelium, but the pain will be less because local anesthesia will be applied during the surgery. Painful discomfort can occur after the effect of postoperative anesthetic medication wears off, and it often takes 4-5 days of discomfort after surgery before it is reduced, and 3-6 months of continuous medication can return to normal. In addition, laser eye surgery may also refer to laser iris perforation, posterior capsule laser and retinal laser photocoagulation, of which laser iris perforation is less painful, posterior capsule laser is mostly painless, and retinal laser photocoagulation is significantly uncomfortable because of the use of a contact all-retinal lens, but most can be tolerated. Because the procedure is invasive, a small number of patients may experience mild postoperative eye pain or subconjunctival hemorrhage, which can be treated with anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medications under medical supervision. Subconjunctival hemorrhage is usually absorbed and dissipated naturally in 2-3 weeks, and usually does not affect the recovery of vision, so patients do not need to worry too much.
