What is the difference between chronic non-atrophic gastritis and chronic atrophic gastritis?

Chronic non-atrophic gastritis and chronic atrophic gastritis are both chronic gastritis. The lesions of chronic non-atrophic gastritis are characterized by mucosal congestion, erosion, and redness. In chronic atrophic gastritis, the lesions are characterized by whitening and thinning of the mucosa, and atrophic changes in the gastric mucosa may occur. In chronic non-atrophic gastritis, the pathological changes are mainly neutrophilic inflammatory cell infiltration, but no glandular atrophic changes are present. In contrast, the pathology of chronic atrophic gastritis is characterized by atrophic and glandular changes in the gastric mucosa. In addition, the symptoms of chronic non-atrophic gastritis are milder, while the gastric mucosa of patients with chronic atrophic gastritis has atrophied to a certain extent, so patients may have symptoms such as abdominal distention and indigestion.
