Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) infecting the skin and mucous membrane of the genital and anal regions of the urinary tract, with HSV-II being the main pathogen. In China, the incidence of genital herpes has been increasing year by year. It has become the third most common sexually transmitted disease after non-gonorrheal urethritis (cervicitis) and gonorrhea. Because HSV-II virus is easy to spread and has the characteristics of subclinical infection, latent infection and recurrence, and there is no effective method to prevent recurrence, and it may have the risk of inducing genital malignancy, which has a greater psychological impact on patients. A large sample survey concluded that alcohol consumption, smoking, level of depression, condom use, sleep duration, number of sexual partners, number of sexual intercourse, perception of the disease, medication status and scratching were correlated with recurrent genital herpes. Further studies showed that among these factors, overexertion was a risk factor for recurrence of genital herpes; among male patients, alcohol consumption was one of the most risk factors for recurrence; and among female patients, menstruation was one of the most risk factors for recurrence.
