Is it easy to heal a distal fibula fracture?

A distal fibula fracture is relatively easy to heal without too much worry, but the outcome of the fracture also depends on the type of fracture and whether the treatment is appropriate. If the distal end of the fracture is a cleft fracture or a set fracture, only external fixation is required and the fracture will heal very smoothly. If the distal end of the fracture is a misaligned fracture, it will need to be treated with surgical incision and internal fixation. When the fracture heals, a second surgery is required to remove the plate and screw internal fixation. The distal fibula is cancellous bone and heals very easily after the fracture, but if the distal fibula fracture is severe with localized bone loss, bone grafting is required, otherwise it is also prone to non-union of the fracture. If the fracture does not heal, a second surgery with a local bone graft is also required to promote healing of the fracture.
