Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET) subspecialty/multidisciplinary treatment team of Cancer Hospital of Fudan University was formally established In February 2015, the multidisciplinary treatment team of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor of Cancer Hospital of Fudan University was formally established. Its basic composition includes: pancreatic surgery, medical oncology, pathology, radiology, endoscopy, interventional medicine and other related departments. Professor Yu Xianjuan presided over the inauguration ceremony of the multidisciplinary team of neuroendocrine tumors, and Professor Ni Quanxing delivered the opening speech, followed by the wonderful speeches by Associate Professor Long Jiang and Professor Chen Zhiyu. Finally, experts from various departments in the group had a lively discussion on the specific division of labor among members of the multidisciplinary group and the future development direction. Professor Yu Xianjuan said that the establishment of the multidisciplinary neuroendocrine tumor diagnosis and treatment group marked the formal integration of the new mode of multidisciplinary communication into the regular diagnosis and treatment mode of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, which greatly promotes and facilitates the clinical treatment and scientific research of PNET. This is a great promotion to the clinical treatment and scientific research of PNET! Neuroendocrine tumors are a group of tumors derived from multipotent neuroendocrine stem cells, which are rare in clinical practice. The symptoms of this disease are complex and diverse, and can gradually develop from potentially malignant to malignant, with a slow disease course. The purpose of modern medical treatment model is to gradually transition from “seeing the disease of life” to “seeing the sick person”, thus the concept of multidisciplinary team (MDT) gradually emerges. MDT is a treatment model in which specialists of different specialties can independently provide consultation and treatment advice for a particular patient and discuss the direction of the patient’s consultation and treatment together at a specific time, bringing together specialists with different professional knowledge, skills and experience to provide high-quality diagnosis and treatment advice to the patient. The MD of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor is a rare and easily misdiagnosed and mismanaged disease, and it also provides standardized, reasonable and best treatment advice for patients with this disease. The MDT of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor has fully learned from the valuable experience of other sister academic teams. In the future, the MDT will regularly carry out relevant diagnosis and research activities, provide patients with high-quality and efficient diagnosis and treatment, and help to continuously improve the level of neuroendocrine tumor diagnosis and treatment in our hospital.
