Where is the main source of chest pain coming from

The source of chest pain in acute chest pain comes from three main sources: i. Diseases of the thorax or chest wall: muscle strain of the chest wall, intercostal neuralgia, herpes zoster, etc.; ii. Lesions of the internal organs of the thoracic cavity: acute coronary syndromes, pericarditis, arterial entrapment, pleurisy, pulmonary infarction, pneumothorax, etc.; iii. Abdominal lesions: cholecystitis, pancreatitis. However, sometimes the site of chest pain is not the location of the disease. Because of a variety of lesions and physical and chemical factors, such as inflammation, hypoxia, visceral swelling, mechanical compression, foreign bodies, trauma and tumors, etc. stimulate the distribution of sensory nerve endings in the site, the excitation is transmitted to the cerebral cortex, resulting in pain. Sometimes viscera and a part of the body surface by the spinal nerve heel the same afferent innervation, visceral stimulation in the cerebral cortex can produce corresponding body surface nociception.
