Most of the patients with lupus erythematosus are young women. After the appearance of erythematous rash on the cheeks, some patients try to apply cosmetics, not knowing that this will aggravate the rash because some cosmetics contain chemical reagents, especially chemicals with aromatic amines, which can induce lupus. There are also examples of lupus occurring after hair dyeing or eyebrow tattooing. Of course, this is only a phenomenon, and it is difficult to show that it is the direct cause of lupus erythematosus. It has been reported abroad that lupus erythematosus occurred in some cosmetic breast augmentation patients, which may be due to the autoimmune reaction induced by silicone. For those with erythema on the cheeks, the hormone-containing “Euthyrox” can be applied locally. To avoid chemical irritation, it is best not to use cosmetics.
