What to do after a nose injury?

1.What should the patient do after a nasal injury? After nasal injury, there are two situations: (1) there is a wound on the skin of the nose with bleeding, which we call open trauma, then you need to locally compress the wound to reduce wound bleeding, admit to the hospital nearby, and debride and suture the wound in an emergency. (2) When there is no wound on the skin of the nose, only local pain or nasal bleeding, we call it closed trauma. At this time, the injured person needs to be kept calm, with cold water towels on the injured part of the nose, of course, ice is better. Then go to the hospital and take a film to check the nasal bone and the surrounding bone tissue in the middle of the face for any closed fractures. 2.Is surgery necessary if a fracture is found? Fractures are usually displaced or undisplaced. (1) If the fracture is obviously displaced and the appearance of the nasal face is deformed and ventilation is impaired, these patients need surgery as soon as possible; (2) if the fracture is displaced and the appearance is changed, but ventilation is not affected and the patient does not require the appearance, no surgery can be performed and the fracture will heal on its own with misalignment; on the contrary, surgery is needed to improve the appearance; (3) if the bone tissue is not displaced and ventilation is not impaired, surgery is not necessary. surgery. 3.What are the problems I need to pay attention to when I feel that my nose is not seriously injured and I do not have time to go to the hospital for the time being? After nasal injury, from 24 hours to 48 hours, cold compress should be applied to the nose, once every two to three hours for 20 minutes, in order to reduce local intradermal bleeding and swelling. 48 hours later, hot compress should be applied to reduce swelling. (1) After three days, the swelling of the nose is not obvious and there is no local pressure pain, this is generally a contusion of soft tissue and does not require further consultation and treatment; (2) After three days, the swelling is still obvious, especially the appearance of the nose has changed and there is local pressure pain, it is necessary to arrange time to consult a doctor for further examination and treatment in time. 4.What is the situation of surgical treatment after nasal bone fracture? Nasal bone fractures that are significantly displaced with external nasal deviation changes on imaging generally require surgery. In the past, closed nasal bone manipulation surgery was used, but after current observation, this method is only suitable for patients with relatively minor fractures in general, and does not achieve ideal surgical results for patients with comminuted fractures or with maxillary fractures and septal fractures. Therefore, we currently use open surgery in the nasal cavity so that we can treat the more serious nasofacial fractures that are mostly seen in clinical practice. 5.What is the best time to treat nasal bone fracture? In the past, closed surgical repositioning was generally recommended within two weeks after the swelling of the nasal bone fracture had subsided, because it was very difficult to perform closed repositioning after two weeks of the fracture, which showed that the optimal treatment time was considered to be very limited at that time. However, nowadays, with the advancement of imaging technology, the fracture can still be correctly determined by CT technology during the swelling period, and it is not necessary to wait for the swelling to subside before surgery. Therefore, the timing of surgical intervention can be performed from the time of injury. Using an open nasal intercondylar or nasal vestibular incision, fractures within two months can usually be effectively repositioned to achieve the desired functional and morphological reconstruction. Although fractures after two months can also be treated surgically, it is just that the earlier the surgery, the less painful the patient and the higher the surgical efficacy.
