Osteomalacia, generally refers to degenerative joint lesions. Clinical manifestations of cervical degenerative lesions: a strong sensation in the neck, restricted movement, a popping sound from neck activities, pain often radiating to the shoulders and upper extremities, numbness and electric shock-like sensation in the hands and fingers, which can be aggravated by moving the neck to a certain angle. Different lesions involve different parts of the body and present different symptoms. In severe cases, the cervical medulla can be compressed, leading to paralysis. Certain types of cervical spine can also cause cervical vertigo, cervical hypertension, cardiovascular disease, gastritis, angina pectoris, and dysphagia. Chondroprotective agents such as glucosamine sulfate can relieve painful symptoms, improve joint function, and retard the destruction of joint structures with long-term use (more than 2 years). Glucosamine sulfate has a slow onset of action, but has a good safety profile and is suitable for long-term use as a basic treatment. Surgery is not the treatment of choice. Surgery may be considered when conservative treatment is ineffective and the condition is severe and seriously affects the patient’s life. Usual life should pay attention to: 1, choose the right pillow and sleeping position, in the sleep process to maintain the physiological curvature of the entire spine, but also to be comfortable, the whole body relaxation. Choose a pillow of moderate hardness, pillow height of 12 to 15cm is appropriate. Accustomed to supine position, the pillow can be placed under the neck, so that the head to maintain a slightly backward posture; accustomed to side lying, the pillow will be adjusted to a position equal to the height of the shoulder, keeping the head and neck at the same level. In addition, pay attention to not lying in bed reading, watching TV or using computer; 2, avoid prolonged low head work or use of computer, about 1 hour of work should pay attention to change the position; 3, asymptomatic people can several times a day for slow neck flexion and extension, left and right lateral flexion or rotation activities exercise (head down, head up or head turn). Strengthen the strength of the neck and back muscles; 4.Avoid neck trauma. Wear seat belts and avoid sleeping in the car when riding. When neck, shoulder and arm pain occurs, a clear diagnosis should be made first and cervical stenosis should be excluded before local gentle massage is carried out, avoiding overly heavy rotational techniques; 5. Especially in summer, we should pay attention not to blow the air conditioner or fan directly to the neck; 6. Avoid overexertion or mental tension; 7. Quit smoking or reduce smoking.
