Eye bags are a common nuisance that can make people look tired and unrefreshed. Because the eyelid skin is thin and the subcutaneous tissue is thin and lax, edema can easily occur, and it becomes more pronounced as we age. Late to bed and early to rise coupled with improper makeup removal methods all contribute to edema and bags under the eyes. In addition, kidney disease, during pregnancy, lack of sleep or fatigue can cause the accumulation of body fluids under the eyes to form under-eye bags. There are three main reasons for the formation of under-eye bags: 1, orbital septal weakness; 2, orbicularis oculi muscle atrophy; 3, skin laxity. The presence of any one of these factors can lead to the occurrence of under-eye bags. However, there are usually two or three factors co-existing, which is called separation of the orbital structures. The eyelid skin is one of the thinnest skins in the body and is in the most exposed position of the body, so the aging of the eyelid skin is most easily noticed and highly valued. The age at which bags appear varies from person to person, but they become more pronounced as we age. Genetics, kidney disease, pregnancy, lack of sleep, and fatigue from late nights can all be factors in the formation of puffy eyes. In younger people, bags under the eyes appear as protruding orbital fat, so removing the protruding fat is sufficient. In older people, the skin is already sagging, so the excess skin should be removed along with the fat.
