Coronary heart disease is now a very common cardiovascular disease. Many of the sudden deaths are caused by coronary heart disease. The sudden death of celebrities that often appear in the press often reminds us that life is so fragile and sudden death happens too suddenly. So, how can patients with coronary heart disease reduce or avoid sudden death in daily life? This is to avoid the “triad of death”. This triad of death includes: satiety + cold + exertion (excitement). First of all, let’s talk about satiety. Patients with coronary artery disease have insufficient blood supply to the heart, and satiety increases the burden on the heart and increases the degree of myocardial ischemia. Especially after satiety, a large amount of celiac blood is produced, and blood viscosity is enhanced, which is an important condition for thrombosis. The second is cold. In cold weather conditions, myocardial oxygen consumption increases, blood vessels are prone to contraction, blood pressure is prone to increase, and coronary arteries are prone to spasm after cold stimulation, all of which are factors that cause vascular occlusion or stenosis to increase. The third is exertion or excitement. When the sympathetic nerve is excited during exertion or excitement, the myocardial oxygen consumption will surge, but due to the two aforementioned reasons, the blood supply to the myocardium will be reduced, and in the case of increased demand and decreased supply, the heart will “stall” like a car climbing a hill without sufficient fuel supply. Therefore, patients with coronary heart disease should try to avoid this situation in their daily life.
