First aid in case of seizures

Families of epilepsy patients need to learn some first aid methods for epilepsy, and to detect the performance of epilepsy patients during seizures in time to make early preventive measures to prevent other unexpected injuries from occurring. So, what do families do when a sudden seizure occurs? 1, if the epileptic patient has a tight collar or wears a tie, you should quickly undress or remove the tie to keep the airway open. 2, for epileptic loss of consciousness seizures and other subsections not accompanied by obvious limb convulsion components, if the seizure lasts for a short time (less than 5 minutes) generally does not require special treatment, as long as the performance of the seizure is recorded and observed, followed by a timely visit to the doctor, who will inform the doctor of the seizure performance, according to the situation, examination and treatment. 3. At the beginning of seizure, due to sudden loss of consciousness, the patient cannot maintain the position before the onset of seizure and is prone to fall to the ground suddenly. If there is someone next to you during the seizure, you should try to protect the patient from falling or being injured by suddenly landing on the ground. 4, if the seizure sudden fall, and very frequent, this situation is mainly seen in some children with epilepsy, if necessary, need to wear a helmet to avoid head injuries. The patient’s teeth are closed during a convulsive seizure, do not forcefully pry open the patient’s teeth, so as not to block the respiratory tract, but to force against the patient’s jaw to reduce the chance of tongue bite. 6, because the patient’s torso and limbs are stiff and tense during a seizure, and there are limb twitches, it is necessary to place the patient on a flat and unobstructed plane around, to minimize the occurrence of accidents such as fractures caused by limb twitches during seizures. This will help to prevent choking due to obstruction of the airway by oral secretions or vomit during seizures. 7. If seizures occur continuously within a short period of time or if a seizure lasts for more than 5-10 minutes, call for help and send the patient to the hospital to continue resuscitation.
