Two treatment options are available for metacarpal fractures: the first one is conservative treatment; the second one is surgical treatment, which depends mainly on the displacement of the fracture break. Since the metacarpal bone is relatively superficial, it is easy to form an open fracture after the fracture. For patients with light contamination and more obvious fracture displacement, incisional internal fixation of the fracture can be done in one stage. If the fracture is well aligned and not displaced by separation or rotation, a strictly conservative treatment with external fixation in plaster can be considered. If the fracture is very obviously displaced, it is estimated that it will produce deformed healing and affect the function of the joint, so early surgery should be done and early functional exercise of the joint should be done to minimize the loss of function.
