The average hospital stay for manual plate removal is several days

Hand plate removal usually requires a 2-week hospital stay. After the fracture of the finger, the plate will be fixed, and after 1 year the fracture heals well, the plate can be removed from the finger, which usually requires hospitalization because this surgery requires anesthesia to remove the plate in a painless way. After the plate removal surgery, hospitalization is required to change the medication regularly, observe the wound for redness, swelling, oozing and infection, and to prevent wound infection by intravenous infusion of anti-inflammatory drugs. If the wound is not inflamed and heals well, the sutures can be removed. The sutures should not be exposed to water for 1 week after removal to avoid infection at the site of the pinhole. For patients with poor recovery or infected wounds, it is necessary to extend the hospital stay until the wound is fully recovered before discharge. You should take more rest and avoid smoking and drinking as much as possible after hand plate removal to avoid affecting the wound healing.
