Two types of double eyelid surgery indications and advantages and disadvantages

Blepharoplasty, also known as blepharoplasty, is a simple, minimally invasive plastic surgery procedure with good results and few complications. Currently, there are two types of blepharoplasty: incisional and buried. Each has its own indications, advantages and disadvantages. 1. Indications for the incisional method: If the upper eyelid skin is lax and there is a lot of subcutaneous fat, the skin and fat need to be removed to relieve the swelling of the upper eyelid. 2. Disadvantages of the incision method: The surgery requires incision of the upper eyelid skin, and a tiny scar can be seen on the upper eyelid when the eyes are closed. Because of the surgical incision, the eyelid will be swollen for about 10 days after surgery before returning to normal. 3. Advantages of the incision method: Removing excess skin and fat from the upper eyelid solves the symptoms of upper eyelid skin laxity and upper eyelid swelling (referred to as blistering eyes) and is suitable for middle-aged and older patients and younger patients with upper eyelid swelling. The eyelid can be maintained for life. 4. Indications for the buried wire method: young patients with simple single lids 5. Advantages of the buried wire method: completely scarless after recovery and a post-operative swelling period of only 5 to 7 days. It is important to note here that because we use the modified buried wire method of blepharoplasty, post-operative eyelid maintenance can be up to 10 years or more or even for life. And as long as you need it, you can return to a single eyelid after the procedure as you wish. 6. Disadvantages of the buried wire method: Not suitable for patients with loose upper lid skin or swollen upper lids Overall, because we apply a modified buried wire blepharoplasty, unlike traditional methods that only last a few years or less, our buried wire blepharoplasty can maintain a patient’s heavy lids for a long time, and we recommend the modified buried wire blepharoplasty as long as you do not have loose upper lid skin or swollen upper lids.
