Are knee replacements scary?

Knee replacement is a term that scares and makes your heart beat faster when you hear it, not to mention the fact that the patients who need this procedure are elderly patients. So let’s take a look at the knee replacement procedure and slow down our heartbeats. Knee replacement, properly known as an artificial surface knee replacement. For this routine procedure, the vast majority of elderly patients can tolerate it, unless they have had significant heart and cerebrovascular problems in the last three months. The size of the procedure is evaluated primarily in terms of the duration of the surgery and surgical bleeding. Our skilled surgeons typically operate for a duration of 40 minutes to 1 hour. With today’s advanced medications and technical support, surgical bleeding is around 50 to 200 ml, which is all within the range of normal blood donation. In our hospital, unilateral surgery for patients under 80 years of age has been able to achieve more than 90% without blood transfusion, and the percentage of transfusion for patients over 80 years of age is around 50%, and the percentage is gradually decreasing. Bilateral simultaneous surgery is generally recommended for patients under 70 years of age. For surgeries that take less than an hour and bleed 200 ml, I personally believe that they are minor surgeries and that simultaneous bilateral surgery is a superposition of two minor surgeries, which is a medium surgery. Given that knee replacement is a procedure to improve quality of life and increase mobility needs, I personally believe that it is safer for senior patients to have bilateral surgery in stages. Do you have a good understanding of the above information? Life is about exercise. I wish all patients will benefit from this surgery to regain their motor function and regain their youthfulness in life.
