Treatment for drooling OCD

As a psychosomatic disorder, salivary compulsion (hypersecretion of salivary glands) has complex causes (e.g., trauma, sudden stimulation, introversion, sensitivity, autism, high internal expectations, anxiety, panic, long-term fast-paced living environment, etc.). The main manifestation is the hyper-secretory function of salivary glands, saliva secretion is incessant and swallowing is not enough, the patient’s attention is often focused on the oral cavity trying to swallow the saliva to avoid being discovered by others and prompting more saliva secretion, thus forming a vicious circle, there are no positive signs in the systemic examination. The patient’s psychological stress seriously affects work, study and social interaction. Domestic and international have been using psychological intervention plus drug treatment, the course of treatment is long many patients with unsatisfactory results. The patient’s salivary gland secretion is monitored by CT-guided radiation therapy (which is characterized by direct action on salivary gland glands, causing atrophy of the glandular vesicles and reduction of secretion), together with medication to assist in regulating the patient’s heart and vagus nerve hyperfunction, and isotope labeling during the treatment period to quantify the salivary gland secretion dynamically and regularly observe the salivary gland secretion function. The reduction of salivary secretion enhances the patient’s self-confidence to achieve physical and psychological recovery, which has achieved certain therapeutic effects and explored a proven treatment method in the conservative treatment of drooling OCD. At the same time, we found that this method can reduce salivary secretion but the patient’s suspicion. The tendency of compulsive mind is difficult to correct in a short time. Further research is needed to explore. This method is simple, less painful, shorter treatment course, and can be applied to people with long onset and other conservative treatment methods are ineffective.
